Numerical Analysis on the Behavior of Floating Geogrid-Encased Stone Column Improved Foundation

The ordinary (OSC) and geosynthetic-encased stone column (ESC) with different bearing strata significantly influenced its behavior. paper established seven models for studying the behavior of floating columns using finite difference method (FDM). effect geogrid length on load-settlement behavior, bulging deformation, failure mode, load transfer coefficient were also analyzed based proposal models. results showed that capacity F-OSCs F-ESCs increased increase in encasement length, respectively, a critical (i.e., 4D, where D was diameter) found settlement improvement. deformation significant observed at top long full short column. could constrain OSC to decrease deformation. mode mainly punching (e.g., less than 4D), relative vertical pressure failure, degree an length. or relatively stable as value 4D) 4D).
